Deforestation equals extinction
Here at Become Carbon Negative, we know that you understand that we are trying to protect the environment by stopping the deforestation of the globe but we also need to factor in what is happening to the native species that inhabit the trees for their food and shelter that human beings are diminishing at a rate of 20 million every day, rendering the effort certain species struggling for life or unknowingly trying to avoid extinction even harder and that’s only concerned with the deforestation affecting the habitat and so life.
We are more than aware that our readers and subscribers in the UK, USA, Africa, Australasia, India and everywhere else in the world, are worried about the way deforestation is impacting on the worlds wildlife. So, we intend to outline how deforestation is impacting on the world wildlife, why reforestation is beneficial not only for the wildlife but also for the world and its human population.
The suffering of wildlife can be directly linked. That is, as space shrinks and the habitation of the wildlife is cut down, for the financial benefit of humankind, competition between all animals increases in direct proportion.
The wildlife, unknowingly, fortunate enough to inhabit protected wooded areas and protected rainforest. Courtesy of the world counts, we have learnt that half of the worlds rainforest has been destroyed in just one Century. The World Counts website demonstrates the rate at which deforestation is happening by providing the number of hectares of trees cut down or burned down.
We have learned from the conversation , we observed, with Dr Jane Goodall, via Masterclass.com, where she asked how can we care for the chimpanzees when we are not even able to look after mankind, referring to her Studies in the Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania and realised that the people on the outside of the park were suffering as much as the chimpanzees and so, asked that if we can’t look after the human race properly how can we look after our closest relative
The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) have produced a species directory which lists the vulnerability of the most endangered species and If we read the WWF list together with the list of the 11 most threatened forested areas we can understand how the two topics are dependent on one another. So, if we protect the trees, we also protect the wildlife!
When it comes to planning the strategy for logging vital areas, the existence of the wildlife will be considered a mere nuisance and of no real consequence because the timber the trees provide result in greater capital. That is, it will be considered that there is greater value to be found in a rosewood guitar then there is an orangutan. So, and that we should not take care of either but as Dr Jane Goodall had stated earlier if humans can’t even look after themselves how can humans look after endangered animals.

We need to ask ourselves what we can do about deforestation and protect endangered wildlife. It is possible to buy forest friendly products and the Forest Disclosure Project and the Forest Stewardship Council have produced labels to make that choice easier. So, you need to check for the FSC label or Forest Footprint Disclosure which has awarded companies for supporting the environment and leading the way to sustainability, view the list of 300+ A grade companies here.
The reason we need to prevent deforestation and encourage tree planting is not just because Become Carbon Negative is a collection of tree huggers it is for the benefit of everyone and everything.
So, the message from Become Carbon Negative is by helping Become Carbon Negative in saving trees you are also helping to protect the worlds wildlife.
